Full day at Kalangu café! Today we have two events happening. At 5.30 pm we start with a panel discussion organized by Interfem. How does racism and sexism correlates to stress? Does one's individual mental health get affected when societal structures such as racism and sexism are present? Invited in the panel are individual who work with and have been affected by racism and sexism. ★ ☆ ✮ ⚧ ★ ☆ ✮ At 7.30 pm as a part of the fifth edition of Trans Film Fest Stockholm, TFS will organize a cozy acoustic music evening No tickets, no entrance fee. ON STAGE ★ Emil Sollerman ★ Emil is a nonbinary amateur singer-songwriter who will be performing a variety of songs – some their own and some from popular movies and tv series. ★ Erinn Bastias ★ Erinn presents two sets this evening. Set 1 will be a journey through Latin American folk music highlighting some of the most influential tunes in Chilean cultural history. Set 2 will be acoustic interpretations of songs written during 5 years of transitioning. The songs are about trans-experiences of life and relationships. With our wonderful hostess for the evening is Kay Bradshaw. We now serve lunch!! We are happy so many of you like our brunches. Weekends have been full and hectic. Thank you so much for the support. We guess the natural step now is to start serving lunch. We will try a new concept, Bowl of the week- lunch from Tuesday- Friday. This week we have an Autumn spicy green lentils stew full with antioxidants from cabbage, carrots and spinach. How cafés and migration can pop up interesting collaborations. Randomly met Edith/ @editaee in a café in Lebanon. I was surprised to see a Congolese in Beirut. I guess she was equally surprised to see a Congolese-Swede there. And to add, we are close in age, similar migration background and working in the same domain. And now here we are, sevenish years later, in a café in Grenoble planning the opening of an African art & culture café in Sthlm. Will be cool to see what further synergies such a place can bring. Stay tuned!

His absence, silent character and inability to be there as the father I need has left me feel unloved by the very person who is the reason I even exist. I've spent so much time and tears trying to reconcile and understand why things went as they did. But one random day when I was biking in Stockholm I suddenly realized who thought me to bike and this picture popped up in my memory. I remember his patience, how we practiced day after day until I no longer needed/ wanted his help. And with a silent smile he let me go. Maybe that's why I as a grown-up feel so free when I bike. Like nothing is holding me back... Therapy and self-work is teaching me that love manifests in different ways. Not always as I wish but it doesn't mean it isn't there. //To my father who is still an idi*t ;)
